Another road trip to Glenorchy where the entire drive was just going by the beautiful Lake Wakatipu.
I really feel this beautiful scenery can very draw you in and make you completely forget what you’re doing. And that’s definitely not so much of a positive thing if you’re driving. We had a bit of an incident where I was very focused on driving but at the same time, was wowed by this beautiful scenery. So as soon as I saw a spot to park my car and look out to this view, I immediately swerved left. I was definitely cutting it very close because we were driving in an 80 zone and I didn’t even have the chance to brake before stopping so yes, that was a bit of a nightmare. I definitely had a bit of a heart attack at that point. And honestly still don’t know how I even did that but it was a strange moment where my mind was really taken away by the scene and the atmosphere. So a tip, drive safely ! And if you can’t see a stopping kerbside, don’t stop at all, just wait for another kerb stop where safe to do so.
But even so, we did end up having the chance to capture these photos, so we were quite lucky.
And if you’re wondering, is the lake really this blue, it actually is. And this is one of the main reasons why lakes in New Zealand are so captivating.
As you’re driving on this road to Glenorchy, you’ll come across this spot on the left where you can stop by to capture some photos so there’s plenty of opportunities to just even stop and enjoy the scene. This was the 2nd stop we made on this road while driving to Glenorchy. So the stop at the top was a bit different and I highly recommend not stopping there as it was a bit dangerous. This area, you could actually see ahead so you’ll have some time to prepare to a stopping.
The road to Glenorchy.
