We weren’t too sure if there was going to be enough parking so we decided to park a little far – on Lake Wakatipu Ride (which extends from Park St). The view of Lake Wakatipu is honestly beautiful. This was the scenery right before our eyes as we we walked around Lake Wakatipu to get to Queenstown Gardens.
I still recall the feeling I had as I parked the car right beside the lake and decided it was the perfect spot to capture some photos. Born and raised in Sydney, I’ve never woken up to a beautiful lake right by the mountains, so this was definitely something different – and also a very incredible experience that will be hard to forget.
Perfect place to kayak !
A walk with no aim is always a surprising adventure – one where you cannot wait to see what is at the end of that road !
The Queenstown Gardens, located next to the town of Queenstown, is a botanical garden which is home to many different native plants and trees. And at the gardens, you could also see a pond with benches to sit on.
The walk around the lake on Lake Wakatipu Ride gave us this beautiful view :
And once you’ve walked through the gardens, you’ll end at the edge of the gardens right next to Lake Wakatipu. It’s so beautiful that till this day, I still can’t seem to find the right words to explain this beautiful experience to my family and friends.
On the right side of this picture, there sits a bench right in front of the lake where you could sit and enjoy the view and the calm breeze. Despite it being pretty cold, it was still quite perfect to just sit and embrace what was right in front of our eyes.
Always so many great places to visit around Lake Wakatipu. And if you’re after great spots for photos, this is definitely a great spot. Or if you’re just after a spot to do a nice walk, this is also the right place!
